Pretty exciting as I got to meet Adrian Jones and get a photo with him! He said he couldn't imagine why I'd want a photo except maybe to throw darts at!

The line was long. We got there about 11:00 and it took just under two hours to get though. So if you go, I'd suggest getting there right at 10:00 (or 9:00) when it starts. I read on Facebook where some people took 3 hours.

Fortunately, much of the line was covered with fan-blown tents and there were "Model Citizens" passing out free bottled water. And there were plenty of benches to sit on through the line. (Oh, and there were golf carts ferrying people from their cars to the line.)

They also had a Lego building area for the kids - I only wished it was a bit closer to the line so I didn't have to worry about my son. He went around and took many of the photos (which I will post here in a bit.)

Naturally there was a small retail area out there. The Lego sets were not priced higher than what you'd find at the store. Fortunately my Plus Pass got me 10% off, so it's actually better for me to get sets at Legoland.

The MC's were all very helpful and gracious. I didn't bring the correct print out and one MC went and got my correct info for me before I got to the end of the line. There was some grousing by a lady in the line that teachers with the free passes should have a separate line than those who paid. I guess there's always SOMEONE who has to complain about something.

So all-in-all, it was great. I'll be posting some photos here soon. Unfortunately, I didn't have my "A" camera with me so I had to use the "B" camera, which isn't as good. But I think I can tweak them a bit to look better.

I stopped by the park today also...couldn't believe how long some people were waiting for passes. I was also suprised by the long serpentine drive it takes just to get to the parking toll booths. The entrance to the park looks pretty good so far. It will be exciting to see what the rest of the park looks like in person.

I plan on getting my pass after the park officially opens so I won't have to wait in a long line. I was told that the parking fee will be refunded if you purchase a pass that includes parking.

Yeah, I thought CG's drive was overkill... This one really gives you a parking lot tour!

I didn't really mind. It ended up being worth it to meet Mr. Jones.

I could tell he was a genuinely nice guy. He talked to me for a bit and I thanked him for making the wait as easy as possible with the tents, fans, and water. I told him I watched all his videos and he said, "Sometimes I don't even know they're filming me!" A lady asked him if they had kennel services and he said "Yes." Also asked if they'd have a bike rack and he also said, "Yes. But you can't ride in the park."

Can't wait guys. This is going to be awesome... (Oh, and I have some new materials to scan... Check back soon for those.)

BTW... They were handing out park maps today... It's official, the Botanical Gardens is going to be called "Cypress Gardens: Historic Botanical Gardens" They're using the original CG font/logo and everything.

You think the entrance is something else.... WAIT til you get INSIDE! It is really awesome. By the way that dragon at the front of the park you shot the photo of is made of Duplo size blocks and has about 275,000 total!

Thanks for the pictures Greg. Glad they finally mentioned the name "Cypress Gardens" somewhere. I hope you mentioned your website to Mr. Jones...I'm sure he'd be impressed with the work you put into it.
