I do hope they save Chief Wahoo though, the article said he was getting replaced by a college mascot. For those who don't know, Chief Wahoo is the mascot of the Cleveland Indians baseball team. |   | -------------------- Life's a roller coaster, so enjoy it while you can with your hands high in the air. |

Here's a concept: (The Orange Dome would be at the top of the big parking lot.)

Supposed to have a Chic-Fil-A, a Starbucks, a movie theatre, and other shops we can live without. Meh... |   | -------------------- Visit my YouTube channel for Legoland Adventures!

Brickster 243 Posts | I agree with you Greg. I'm a truck driver and I've driven by the new Comisky Park in Chicago and I see a parking lot where the old Comisky Park once stood. It's sad to see a place where all the Baseball greats have played ball going back as far as Ty Cobb have all played is now a parking lot in the shadows of the newer home of the White Sox across the street. I also drive by the former site of Circus World/Boardwalk & Baseball where I've had many childhood memories which is now a shopping village called Posner Park. I believe Circus World actually had one of the first IMAX movie screens which was in the Big Top building at the front of the park. Now all that remains of that park is the street name "Home Run Ct" which was near the front entrance of the park. |   | -------------------- Life's a roller coaster, so enjoy it while you can with your hands high in the air. |

Lego Star V 956 Posts | When something is no longer used or not used enough it can be refurbished to be used as something else or if more economical (as is often the case) torn down to make way for something new. Even CG gave way to LL. Don't know if an abandoned building, park or strip mall is worth keeping as a icon since they usually get run-down and become eye-sores over time. At some point it is indeed time for something new. There is no stopping progress or even agreeing on what progress is. I would have preferred that nothing changed since the 1950's!!!! |

Duplo 6 Posts | I agree with Ed and Greg...its really sad to have our Orange Dome anniliated, along with the old Winter Haven mall. When I visited recently I was shocked at the ugly changes to our once beautiful city. Can we all agree the city council needs to be taken out to an orange grove for a good old fashioned whoop ass? Works for me! Actually you all who live there need to try to make changes in who ever is making these horrendous decisions and effectively ruining Winter Haven. Im all for activism on a major scale; also try and get rid of Grady Judd! He is an embarrassment to your county big time. I wish I was there to help but I am knee deep in activism measures here in California. Thinking of you all that loved the former Gardens. and Greg I, too, am a Master Gardner. We are making the world a brighter place for our childrens children. Peace |
